They say what goes around
Comes around.
They say what comes up
Must come down.
They say you must follow rules
and follow orders
I should care.
I do not.
I say I want to be someone
I am not.
I say I want to do something
I can not.
I am an insignificant girl.
I blend in
When the only thing I'm good at is standing out.
I once knew a girl who knew what she wanted.
She had dreams, talent.
She had a plan.
She ran into the street
and got hit by the life bus.
Now she's paralyzed...
Paralyzed
In this little circle of life.
I'm paralyzed.
Careless.
Broke.
With crushed dreams and spirit.
When spirit is all you have left to offer
And spirit just isn't enough
Do you ever have a chance to change?
Change this cycle that I'm caught in?
I am an insignificant girl.
Another number
Another person waiting to break free.
Break free from what exactly?
The chains I have put on myself.
The promises that I have broken
to myself.
I'm a liar.
A theif.
A cheat.
A broken girl with no hope in the day ahead.
No plan.
No action.
I'm paralyzed.
They say you should never give up.
They say to take steps forward
you must take steps back.
They say you can do anything
you put your mind to.
I say
I'll try again some other day.
I need a break.

Poetry Reading
I Picked You Once
By: Alexis Burton
If I had a chance
with any guy,
I'd point straight at you.
I'm sure it's nothing.
I'll forget you ever existed.
Just know I picked you once.
If I had a chance
I'd stare at you every night
just to learn about you.
So strange to know nothing.
Your identity and life
Secret.
Secrets will drive anyone mad.
If I had a chance
I'd hold your hand all night
I'd open myself to you.
I would try to take your pain away.
I don't know you
But oh, how i'd love to.
If only I had a chance.
Hurry
Before I forget all about you.

Story Time Children
Let's say this story begins in a far, far land way down the street. Everyone knows of a girl, a girl thats writing to you now. This is a story of a young girl with dreams and talent. An entertainer.
If I could meet every person in the world I'd be happy and I'd be ecstatic if over half of them said they enjoyed my company.
People should quote me in magazines an thangs.
This is my life story bitches in any metaphor that i choose to use.
Dedicated to : The Train
Train
On my own and above the water I walk upon solid ground
I am but an innocent girl with dreams
and the understanding of realities of life.
The trains running tonight.
My joy comes from no where and every where all the time.
A smile appears for no reason
and just because it feels like stretching.
And then just like that you've forgotten the path you were walking on.
Stop and remember what you were up to just a few years ago. You haven't got a lot of time but you're still so young.
I don't care about any of you really.
Just her.
I care about her.
And just like that it's real.
It's a lie.
Realities from the eyes of the train
The oldest way of moving and still
dependable.
Life without a stage
is like living a life without being on stage.
Empty of applause
Empty of joy
Sheer joy
Moving forward everyday
I envy you Train.
